Hospitalization #7

Well, we are back in the hospital again with Brett. Last night he cried almost all night and only slept for 20-30 minutes at a time. He has been lethargic and cranky, and that usually means he's sick, because he's normally such an extremely happy baby. We suspect he has another central line infection, but will have to wait awhile to confirm it. Tonight it's all the usual procedures for us - blood cultures, throat cultures, chest xray, breathing treatments. When we left the house he was not requiring oxygen, but after we had been here about an hour, his sats began dropping to the point of needing oxygen therapy. Just a little, though. He is so tired from not sleeping. We are still in the emergency department right now, but hope to get a room soon. He'll be starting antibiotics tonight. Rob and I were planning to go out tonight for some couple time, but we had to come here instead. But I'm thankful my parents are in town visiting, so Rob and I could at least come to the hospital together. It's always easier with two. More updates soon.

FIrst Birthday Family Photos

We had the party for our twins on their actual birthday, April 2, which fell on Good Friday this year. The guests included all the grandparents, our babysitter Brittny, and our dear friends, Stephen and Cara Eccher and their family. My friend Emily (Emily Collins Photography, Inc.) also came to shoot photos and brought her son, who happens to be Mark's best friend. Even with this small group, it felt like a huge party with so many kids in the house. But it was wonderful.

Incidentally, the birthday party was the first time the Reasoner twins had met the Eccher twins! With the babies' prematurity and fragile medical conditions, this was the first time we felt it was wise.

Reasoners & Ecchers

This post is the first of several I will do from the twins' first birthday party. The birthday guests included grandparents, photographer Emily Collins and her son, and Stephen and Cara Eccher and family. We have been friends with the Ecchers for about seven years. We've become very close as we've walked through the good times and the bad together. They are the kind you can call for help anytime of day or night, and we have plenty of times. We could never have imagined that we would both have a set of twins for our second pregnancy! When they told us the news, Stephen said, "Now we're gonna need an RV to go on a family trip!"
