Thomas Jefferson's Monticello

On our way to Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia in March, we stopped on the way to visit Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Grandpa had been wanting to visit for 30 years, but just never really had the perfect opportunity. Well, this was it. We were driving straight through Charlottesville to get to Snowshoe. The weather was cold but the day was pretty, and we had a good time!

The historic home was extra-beautiful with the snow still on the ground.

These two photos were taken on the shuttle bus from the visitors' center and museum up to the residence. Rob, Brittny holding Brett, and Grandpa (Rob's dad) holding Gantt. Mark and I sat across from them on the way up.
The view was beautiful as well. Check out my facebook page to see the entire photo album.

  1. Your mother, another aunt, and myself visited Montecello when we were visiting you in Virginia! We were totally amazed at the construction, landscaping, and organization. That man had everything he'd ever need right there at his fingertips!

Reading about Montecello in books and seeing photos just doesn't do it justice! I LOVED standing on the front porch and looking out over the vast hills/valleys! What a site!

But we had to WALK from the entrance - totally up hill - to the plantation. If they had shuttles at that time (about 25 years ago), we were not aware of it!
