We had a lazy weekend, recovering from Rob being out of town for a lot of last week. I took Mark and Gantt to Rolesville Park - it was Gantt's first time and he had a lot of fun.
If you notice, you will see Mark's carabiner full of silly bandz on his belt loop. They are all the rage with the kids! He now has over 100 silly bandz and enjoys playing with them and trading them with his friends. Also, he tries hard to keep them away from his brothers! Below is Mark doing his gymastics "stunts" on the bars.
Brett is doing well, despite having some stomach problems over the weekend. He is still on IV antibiotics until next Wednesday. He has not required oxygen, so the steroids must still be working. We have even started weaning the steroid dose. We go back for a marathon day of appointments at UNC next Wednesday, May 26. He will have his regular pulmonology checkup in addition to a swallow study. He has had his feeding therapy evaluation and will be beginning feeding and speech therapy next week. He needs the swallow study done so we can see exactly what is happening when he is eating and to rule out any danger of him aspirating. More details on the actual proecdure later. After the swallow study we have an appointment with his surgeon to discuss the possibility of placing a port instead of continuing with this Broviac. I look forward to getting all that over with - and hearing what Dr. Weiner has to say about a port. We are so ready for it!
Also, I've decided to label the posts that have to do with Brett's health. That way, if you haven't checked in awhile, you don't have to scroll through all my other posts to find the information you might have missed about Brett. The name of the label will be "Brett Health Update."
Looks like these boys are having a wonderful day! Those silly bandz are evidently quite a craze among the young crowd! I've been hearing a lot about them.
ReplyDeleteEven though I like reading all of your posts, I especially like the idea of posting Brett's health separately - especially when he's having a tough time.
